Covered is not the same as available
Mental health and substance use treatment are essential health benefits on Marketplace and most group plans, and parity rules require them to be covered no more restrictively than medical care. Medicare covers outpatient behavioural health too, and has broadened what it will pay for virtually.
The practical problem is supply. A directory listing is not a booking, and plenty of listed therapists are not taking new patients. We check availability, not just membership, and we look at what the telehealth benefit costs per visit before recommending a plan to a household that will use it.

On Marketplace and most group plans, yes — behavioural health is an essential benefit and parity rules limit how differently it may be treated. What varies is the copay, the network and whether anyone in it is accepting patients.
Yes. Part B covers outpatient behavioural health care, including visits with psychiatrists, psychologists and clinical social workers who accept Medicare, and covers many of those visits virtually.
Usually, and on some plans they are free. It is one of the few places where the cheaper option is also the more convenient one.
