Medicare Part B covers ground ambulance transport to the nearest appropriate facility when other transport would endanger your health, and covers air ambulance in narrower circumstances. Advantage plans apply their own copayment to each. When the nearest emergency room is twenty minutes away and the nearest trauma centre nearly an hour, those numbers stop being theoretical, so we read them before you enrol.
